Nurse clinics

As part of the healthcare team offering support and services to our patients, we have a team of experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.  We also have a Health Visitor who attends our Burnt Oak Clinic weekly. Our aim is to provide a service for patients so that they see the most appropriate clinician without a long wait and can agree a personal programme with that clinician. We want patients to be involved in managing their own health and our nursing team can enable you to do so.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is an experienced Nurse who has undertaken further training to become an expert in managing many chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and COPD. This includes reviewing your blood test results and making changes to any medication that may be required. If your condition is being managed by the Nurse Practitioner, your review appointments will be booked with the Nurse Practitioner and you will not need to see a GP.

Many Nurse Practitioners also deal with minor illnesses, which means they can diagnose many conditions, give advice on treatment and provide you with a prescription for any medication required.

Practice Nurse

Our team of Practice Nurses supports our GPs and Nurse Practitioner in providing patient-centred care. As such, you can make appointments to see our Nurses for many health related issues such as family planning and contraception advice, cervical smears, childhood immunisations, ear syringing and general health checks including lifestyle advice. The Nurses also offer a travel service which provides health related travel information and travel vaccinations.

Health Care Assistant

We are fortunate enough to have a very experienced Health Care Assistant to support our Nursing team. The Health Care Assistant provides clinics for many procedures including diabetic checks, blood pressure checks, ear syringing and contraceptive injections.

The surgery also has onsite Health Visitor support, at Burnt Oak on a Monday afternoon which is a walk in service. Please ask at reception for more details.

We can only offer limited blood testing services onsite and ask that you attend one of the local blood testing clinics listed on the blood form wherever possible.
